101 Market in Otsego

(Originally published October 2017)

This week I wanted to take the kids somewhere to celebrate fall, but it’s been so rainy and windy lately that we’ve found it hard to do anything outdoors. It was definitely time for a visit to 101 Market in Otsego!

101 Market, started as a small greenhouse over 20 years ago and has expanded over the years to become a full-fledged home and garden center. In the fall, it’s a great local destination for family fun! In the greenhouses you’ll find row after row of pumpkins—all sizes and colors!—plus Indian corn, gorgeous mums, and lots of other fall decor.

We visited the market on a weekday, when it wasn’t very busy. On weekdays, you can run the corn maze and enjoy the corn pit, jumping pillow, spider web, and pumpkin bounce house, with many of the activities costing just $1–3/kid. My two kids spent a long time playing together in the corn pit. I was especially happy to find a separate corn pit for younger kids (complete with buckets, shovels, and trucks) where my toddler could play without fear of getting trampled by an older kid.

There are MANY more activities available to you on the weekends, including an animal train, petting zoo, pony rides, pedal carts, corn cannon, food vendors, and more! You can choose to pay a few dollars per activity or purchase an activity package. Package prices range from $7 to $15 based on the number of activities included. Several of the activities are indoors, so don’t shy away on a cold or rainy day. (Keep in mind, though, that if it has rained earlier in the day, certain activities such as the inflatables may still be shut down for safety.)

The market is open through the last weekend in October. Head over to nathes101market.com/corn-maze-mn to see the list of activities and prices. (There’s also a coupon there to save $1 on corn maze admission.)
