2019 STMA Holiday Lights Tour

Traveling to see the lights around town was one of my favorite Christmas traditions as a kid. We are so blessed in our community to have several great holiday light displays, including a few choreographed to music! So grab your family and some hot cocoa, and follow this path for an evening of holiday de-LIGHT! 🙂 #mompuns

New this year!
We’ve mixed up the STMA Holiday Lights Tour a bit to include a few new stops sent in by our readers.
The tour stops at 9 locations and takes about 1 hour to enjoy start-to-finish. If you’d prefer just to hit the highlights, click here to access the 4-location, 40-minute version.

Tour Locations:

1. Lydia Circle NE, Albertville
The tour begins at not just a house, but an entire cul-de-sac! The Lydia Circle neighbors have their houses lit for the season, and their street is a joy to circle through.

2. 6813 67th Street NE, Albertville
Just across from Lydia Circle, this new stop on our tour has its lights choreographed to music. Tune in to 87.9 to catch a song before continuing.

3. 12385 58th Street NE, Albertville
Another new stop, this home is a beacon in its otherwise quiet neighborhood. (Use care along this winding street, especially if it’s snowy!)

4. 5669 Large Ave NE, Albertville
My kids ask constantly when we can visit the “Singing Santa” house. The display features 350 plastic figures and 25,000 lights that are programmed to dance to music—you can tune it in at 89.1 FM.  Bonus: Make sure you also grab then I-Spy game from the front mailbox; there’s a new one each week!

5. 5486 Kalland Ave NE, Albertville
My husband and I just love the elegant simplicity of this reader-submitted light display and its buddy across the street. Drive slowly down Kalland so you don’t miss them!

6. 4168 Jansen Ave NE, St. Michael
Another local favorite is the Kneeland family home, which features five great songs set to music. Shows are playing continually every night from 5 to 10pm and can be heard at 87.9 FM.  Bonus: Kids can grab a candy cane from the box out front!

7. 4178 Jason Court NE, St. Michael
I stumbled upon this beautifully decorated home by accident during last year’s tour, and I’m so happy I did! Aside from looking like something from a postcard, it reminds me of the beautiful homes my family used to drive to see at Christmastime when I was growing up.

8. 100 1st Street SE, St. Michael
This display just off of 241 near Walgreens & Dunn Brothers lights up the neighborhood—you won’t need my map to find it! I recommend driving around to see both sides of this house if you can do so safely. (not advisable at rush hour)

9. “Holiday Lights on 20th Street”—11594 20th Street NE, St. Michael
This is the “grand finale” of our tour, known as the “Holiday Lights on 20th Street.” Several of the homes get in on the action, so be sure to check out the great displays on both sides of the street. Our tour ends at house number 11594, whose popular musical light display even has its own Facebook page! Tune in to 99.3 FM and enjoy the show, which runs 5:30–9:00 Sunday–Thursday and 5:30–9:30 on Friday & Saturday. Owners Bob & Brenda are collecting donations for the Hanover Food Shelf on weekends, so make sure to bring along something to add to the donation box on the side of the driveway. (NOTE: Show will only run until 7:30 on Christmas Eve)

Remember to be a good neighbor! No parking in driveways, making loud noise, or honking. Park all the way to the right so traffic can get by, and turn off your headlights when it’s safe to do so.

On your Light Show Tour the house @ 6813 67TH ST NE in Albertville is inspired by a neighbors daughter who would make her mother walk down to our house in the cold of night to see “Mr. Creed’s Lights.” That story melted my heart and caused me to animate our display to music. It is also a tribute to my father who taught me about lights as a kid.

How long does the light tour last? Is it up through New Years?

    • STMAmom | 30th Dec 19

Most of the homes keep their lights up through New Year’s.
