Great River Library in St. Michael

“The world is full of magical places, and the library has always
been one of them for me.”  – Julie Andrews

On any given day, ask my daughter where she’d like to go, and she’ll almost certainly tell you, “the library!” There’s just something about stepping into the library that’s like entering into a different world, full of possibilities. And one of our very favorite libraries is the one right here in St. Michael.

The Great River Regional Library is located inside the St. Michael City Center building, just off of Highway 241 near Marketplace, and it’s part of a chain of libraries that serves several counties and has locations from here all the way to St. Cloud.

The library features an ADORABLE kids reading and play area with toys, blocks, puzzles, and sometimes even crafts and games. One of my favorite things about the kids area is the family bathroom is RIGHT there, so you can take that potty-training preschooler to the restroom lickety split, or even let one of your kids go the bathroom while your others keep on playing. (The only drawback here is that this in-library restroom has no diaper changing table, so if you have an infant, you’ll need to use the restrooms down the hall instead.)

The St. Michael library hosts regular storytimes for toddlers and preschoolers—complete with themes and crafts—as well as frequent events for school-aged kids, teenagers, and even adults. They also offer several reading programs that are a great way to get your kids reading more, especially during those long summer months.

Check out the library website (link) for more info and hours, and check out the events calendar (link) to find out about upcoming storytimes and more.
