Monticello Community Center

We’ve been spending a lot of time at the community center this month while my daughter takes swim lessons. In case you haven’t been there yet (or lately), I wanted to give you a peek inside.

The Monticello Community Center is a great place to take kids year ’round, but especially when the weather is cold. At MCC you’ll find a fantastic pool, waterslide, hot tubs, indoor play area, climbing wall, fitness center (16+), and a walking/jogging track.

We’ve spent most of our time at the pool, which features a zero-depth entry area with a play structure, sprayers, and a slide. The deeper side of the pool has basketball hoops and lane markers for lap swimming. The highlight, of course, is a large, looping waterslide. To use the waterslide, kids must be 42″ or taller and able to swim on their own—no double riding. Also, kids under 7 must be supervised by an adult in the water, so make sure you come prepared to swim! (Click here for complete pool guidelines) The locker rooms are conveniently located just off of the pool area, and you’ll find a family locker room here as well.

The community center is open pretty much all day every day, but pool and slide hours are limited. (Check the website or call for open swim hours.)
The pool now has a NEW play structure! Click here for updated photos.

The Romp ‘n Stomp indoor play area gives kids 48″ or shorter a fun place to climb up, slide down, and burn off some energy! Infants and toddlers will have a great time exploring the smaller climbing structures. Note: Socks are required in the play area, and swim suits not allowed.

Nearby, you’ll also find a 38-foot Climbing Wall with several route options and a range of difficulty levels. The climbing wall is open primarily on weekday evenings and weekend afternoons.

For part of the year, MCC hosts Wiggle Giggle Gym, an open gym time for preschoolers and their parents to use fun gym toys like the parachute, balls, scooters, and more. (Click here for more info and current hours.)

For non-residents, a daily pass to the community center is $9/adult or $8/kid and gives you access to all areas. If you just want to play in the Romp ‘n Stomp, the cost is $5.25 per child. Drop-in child care is available on a per-hour basis and is not included in the day rate.

Monticello Community Center also offers birthday parties, swim lessons, summer programs, and more! Make sure to visit the community center website for current rates and hours as well as what to expect when you visit.

      Hi Michelle,
We had a great experience with the lessons at MCC! My daughter wasn’t very comfortable in the water when we started, but her teacher was very patient and encouraging and made the lessons fun for all the kids.
