There’s a new kid-friendly business opening in Albertville this week, and it packs a whole lot of fun into one little building! Located just off of Main Avenue and around the corner from city hall, Peekabooboo’s Play Café is an indoor play space that gives little ones a place to explore, create, imagine, and burn off some energy.

I got a chance to tour the café and was both surprised and impressed by what its owner, local mom Kirsten Winscher, has been able to create inside the tiny building that previously housed a small travel agency.

Peekabooboo’s Play Café’s bright and whimsical interior features a small climbing structure, educational toys, a sensory room, a craft space, and a soft play area for infants. The pretend play area, which is currently home to a kid-sized fire station and vet clinic, is intended to rotate seasonally so that kids can have the opportunity to stretch their imaginations each time they visit.

While the majority of the activities are geared towards kids ages 0–6, school-aged children are always welcome and will even find some spaces created with them in mind! Most notably, the café features a vibrant arcade room with both free and pay-to-play arcade games. Winscher knows that many families have children in multiple age ranges and wanted to provide a fun space for those older kids as well, to better serve the whole family.

And speaking of the whole family, the café will have both self-serve coffee and prepackaged snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Winscher explains that having a play space like this in STMA is a dream of hers that was nearly two years in the making. “People have been so excited for the space,” she says, “and I’m excited to bring it to the community.”

Peekabooboo’s will be open every day except Tuesdays (see Facebook page for closures), and admission is $11.50 per child, payable at the door. One adult will be admitted for free with each paid child, and grippy socks are required for all guests.
