Portillo’s, Maple Grove

Portillo’s is bringing a little bit of Chicago to the northwest Twin Cities with the opening of its new location in Maple Grove, coming January 23.

Portillo’s, which started as a single hot dog stand in 1963, now has locations across the country, with buildings and themes as diverse as the people who eat there! (Read more about the history here.) The theme of the Maple Grove location is 1930’s Prohibition, and you can see it reflected in the art and memorabilia covering the walls inside. The menu includes a wide variety of hot sandwiches, as well as burgers, pasta, salads, and of course—hot dogs!

Walmart Free Grocery Pickup

Get $10 off your first purchase with Walmart’s FREE grocery pickup!
(see details below)

As a long-time resident of Minnesota, I’ve pretty much made my peace with winter. I don’t love it, but I can tolerate it. Since becoming a mom, however, I’ve discovered a whole new disdain for the cold and snowy months that revolves around… grocery shopping.

I’m not sure which is worse—pushing a cart full of groceries through the snow, or dragging kids and and out of stores when the temps are below zero. And when BOTH snow and sub-zero temps arrived on my typical grocery shopping day this week, I figured it was time to give Walmart’s free grocery pickup a try. 🙂 And let me tell you, ladies, I may never go back!

Saturday Cinema at Monticello Library

If you’re looking to try a cozy, indoor activity this winter, Saturday Cinema may be just the ticket!

Bring your own pillow and blanket, and they’ll provide the popcorn! Movies begin at 10:15 am, and the full schedule can be found below. Call 763-295-2322 with any questions.

Winter/Spring 2018 Community Ed Brochure

Registration opens this Thursday for the Winter-Spring session of Community Education. You should’ve received the brochure in your mailbox this week, but just in case, I’ve posted the electronic version below.

In the brochure you’ll find information about early childhood (ECFE) programs, youth sports, music lessons, art classes, and MUCH more for your kids… as well as a handful of classes, trips, and athletic opportunities for adults.
