School is in full swing, with homework, assessments, and parent-teacher conferences beginning to pile up. If you’ve noticed some gaps in your child’s academic progress, Sylvan Learning of Albertville could be just what you need.

Sylvan Learning provides personalized tutoring and homework support for K-12 students who need help catching up to their classmates, improving their math or reading skills, or taking on advanced classes. The new Sylvan center, located right here in Albertville near Coborn’s, opened its doors in August and is ready to serve STMA families.

Owners Suzanne and Morgan Flottmeier are a mother-daughter team who both felt a need to help children grow academically. Morgan, who started as a tutor herself, went on to manage two Sylvan Learning centers in other cities. After seeing how Sylvan was inspiring its students to flourish both in and out of the classroom, the two decided to go into business together nearer their hometown.

“We like to think of ourselves as a family helping families,” says Suzanne. When asked about how Sylvan helps fill in the gaps between typical education, Suzanne likened the struggle for students to keep up to be like trying to get on a bus. “The bus is always moving; it doesn’t stop. We can help your student catch up to that bus.”

Combination space for either group learning or quiet study

Tutors at Sylvan Learning take the time to analyze where each student is at and then develop a plan that is tailored to the student’s individual needs. Staff then use a mix of interactive technology and hands-on learning to help capture the student’s attention and maximize results. Parents are given access to an online portal so they can keep track of what their child is learning and see their student’s progress over time.

“We know tutoring can be a little bit difficult,” says Morgan. “We want kids to leave here with smiling faces.” By working hard and trying their best, students can earn tokens from their tutor to redeem for prizes from Sylvan’s Motivation Station.

If your child could use some extra help, now is a great time to give Sylvan Learning a try. During the month of October, Sylvan is hosting a sale on student assessments, and in November they’ll be offering discounted tuition! You and your child can take a tour and sit down with a staff member for a FREE consultation at any time by either calling ahead or visiting sylvanlearning.com.
