Eastman Nature Center (week of July 4th)

Here’s a list of events for kids and families taking place this week at Eastman Nature Center, which is located within Elm Creek Park of Maple Grove:

Preschool Book Worms Story Hour: “Nature Goes Boom”
Tuesday, July 4  10-11 am

Discover nature on your bookshelf with your preschooler. (Ages 2-6) Explore nature-learning stations, a picture book story, hands-on activities and more. End with a short hike, craft, or other activity. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Reservations required. Cost: $4/child

Beach Party at Elm Creek Swim Pond
Thursday, July 6  11 am–1:30 pm
Enjoy a day at the beach with the naturalist staff from Eastman Nature Center. Race a minnow, explore a water bug zoo, and meet live animals. Try games and an obstacle course, and enjoy a cool treat. Rain or shine. Drop in anytime. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $5/child ages 2–17  (adults and under 2 free)

Dragonfly Festival
Saturday, July 8  10 am–1 pm
Celebrate dragonflies and their life-cycles. Visit the dragonfly tent, catch some of these insects, and learn how your actions affect their health. Explore with microscopes, and make a craft. Drop in anytime. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Cost: $5/person

Sunday, July 9  1–3 pm
Discover what swims, dives and paddles in the pond. Drop in anytime. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: Free
