Earlier this week one of my mom friends posted on Facebook asking if anyone wanted to meet up at Prairie Park in Otsego. My answer to this is pretty much always—”Absolutely!”
We love going to Prairie Park anytime the weather is nice but especially in the summertime! When it’s hot out, the park offers an awesome two-in-one: a terrific playground and a great splash pad.
Prairie Park is probably best known around here because of its splash area. The fountains offer hours of play and a cool respite on a hot day, like the 90-degree day we were there! I like that there are jets of different sizes and intensities, so all ages can have a blast. We like to bring some cups or buckets to play with. You’d be surprised at just how long a kid can play with a fountain and a bucket! 😀
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw me make this statement a few days ago:

What can I say, we love the Prairie Park playground! It actually has three distinct play areas—your standard play structure with a network of steps and bridges and slides, then a toddler-sized climber with slides, and an area farther away that has some climbing structures and a big rope pyramid. My kids both love to play here because it’s accessible for each of them. I especially love that there is a dedicated area for the littles where they’re not being overrun by bigger kids!
The park also has a good bit of shade, including a covered picnic area and several trees. You can easily make visiting Prairie Park into a several-hour affair if you tie in a picnic, a walk through the trails, or a visit to the skate park.
Bonus tip: Otsego Parks & Rec hosts a lot of events at the park, including free entertainment for kids on Tuesday mornings in the summer. Take a peek at their website (link) to find out what’s coming up.
