This fall has been a beautiful one, but our family’s start to school has been a little rough. Between colds and quarantines, my kids have been home from school for days and weeks at a time, leaving me in definite need of a Moms’ Night Out! So last week I gathered up some girlfriends and headed over to Maynard’s in Rogers for a wine-and-apps night to swap stories and enjoy some moms-only time.

Maynard’s is a locally owned restaurant located just off of Hwy-101 in Rogers, near the movie theater and Cub Foods. They have a large and very diverse menu, serving everything from burgers and pasta to seafood and steak. They also have Happy Hour specials on both food and drinks twice every day, including a weekday evening Happy Hour that starts at 8pm.

My friends and I opted to take advantage of the Happy Hour that started right after our kids went to bed. We also chose to go on a Wednesday, because Maynard’s offers half-price bottles of wine—um, yes please! The whole place was hopping even at 8:00, but we were able to get a high top table in the bar area. Our server, Becky, was friendly and attentive and gave us some tips on what to order.

The fried mushrooms and Italian seasoned fries we ordered, and especially the sauces they came with, were delicious. The cheese curds were tasty but a little more dense and not as crispy as I like them. The portion sizes on all the appetizers were very generous, though—so much so that none of us could finish what we’d ordered, and we ended up taking a lot of it home!

We would’ve loved to try out Maynard’s beautiful patio and outdoor fireplace, but it was raining the night we went. As we left, though, we were already planning our next moms’ night out for a time when we can take advantage of that patio. (I’m also still dreaming about the salted caramel cheesecake I didn’t quite have room for…)
