Gather up the family and some mugs of hot cocoa, because it’s time for the annual community favorite, the STMA Holiday Lights Tour! This year’s tour includes some of the best and brightest holiday light displays in our community. Follow the path below to visit 8 different locations over the course of 1 hour.
Remember to be a good neighbor! Please stay in your vehicle and resist the urge to go walking through people’s yards. No parking in driveways, making loud noise, or honking. Please pull all the way to the right so traffic can get by, and turn off your headlights once it’s safe to do so. Turn around ONLY in cul-de-sacs, not driveways.
Finally, if you just can’t get enough of local light displays, be sure to check out our honorable mentions list at the bottom of this page!
1. Lydia Circle NE, Albertville Our tour begins at not just a house, but an entire cul-de-sac. The Lydia Circle neighbors come together each year to light their homes for the season, and I could swear that the street gets brighter every year! In addition to the giant Christmas tree at the center, be sure to watch for Santa as well as a home giving away candy canes to tour visitors.
2. 6813 67th Street NE, Albertville Just across from Lydia Circle, Mr. Creed’s home has its lights choreographed to music. Tune in to 87.9 to hear the songs, and you can even visit mrcl.show to queue up the next tune! Find out more about this display and its history at mrcreedslights.com.
3. 5669 Large Ave NE, Albertville My kids regularly ask when we can visit the “Singing Santa” house. The Wirtz family’s famous display features hundreds of plastic figures and thousands of lights that are programmed to dance to music—you can tune it in at 89.1 FM. Bonus: Grab a copy of the I-Spy game from the front mailbox and see if you can spot all the unique elements in this display!
4. 4980 Kalenda Ave, Albertville Our next stop on the tour is “Christmas on Kalenda,” which features over 10,000 dancing lights and a 10-foot mega tree. Tune to 88.7 FM to enjoy the show! My favorite part is the singing light bulbs and Christmas tree. Check out their website, ChristmasOnKalenda.com, for more information or to add a song to the playlist.
5. 13704 48th Street NE, St. Michael Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac, lots of friendly snowmen are waiting to greet you and wish you a Happy Holidays.
6. 13626 44th Street NE, St. Michael Returning to the tour this year is the Kuechle family’s character extravaganza. Kids will love pointing out some of their favorites hidden throughout the yard. See if you can spot Mickey Mouse, a Minion, the Abominable Snowman, and our personal favorite, Bluey!
7. 11871 36th Circle NE, St. Michael This dazzling display is my daughter’s favorite! It features a bench at the front for a quick family snapshot and fun holiday music playing outside. Bonus: Bring your letters to Santa and drop them in the mailbox to have them sent directly to the North Pole!
8. “Holiday Lights on 20th Street”—11594 20th Street NE, St. Michael Photo courtesy Holiday Lights on 20th Street This is the “grand finale” of our tour, known as the “Holiday Lights on 20th Street.” Several of the homes on 20th get in on the action, so be sure to check out the great displays on both sides of the street. The starring attraction is house number 11594, whose popular musical light display even has its own Facebook page! Tune in to 99.3 FM and enjoy the show, which runs 5:30–9:00 Sunday–Thursday and 5:30–9:30 on Friday & Saturday. Owners Bob & Brenda are collecting both food and monetary donations for the Hanover Food Shelf, so be sure to bring along something to add to the donation box on the side of the driveway. (NOTE: Show may run shorter hours on Christmas Eve; be sure to check Facebook for details.)
There are so many beautiful lights displays in our area that we can’t possibly feature them all! Here are MORE great homes for you to check out when you have the time:
