Amore Ice Cream Shoppe is one of those names I’d heard from time to time in passing, but it wasn’t until a friend in Otsego started going there all. the. time. that I figured I’d better give it a try. All it took was just a taste, and I too fell in LOVE. (yes, pun totally intended)

Amore Ice Cream is a family-owned eatery in Elk River, conveniently located right off of Highway 101 / 169 and just a 15-minute drive from the heart of STMA. Their delicious premium ice cream comes from Wisconsin, but the hand-scooped charm is all local.

The case is filled with flavor after flavor—think, all of your usual favorites and then some! I definitely recommend sampling a few before you make your choice, because there are a lot of unique offerings. I totally LOL’ed when I came across “Exhasusted Parent—Bourbon-spiked espresso ice cream swirled with bittersweet chocolate chunks.” Ha, sounds about right. 😉 They have thoughtfully separated out the dairy-free and peanut flavors and also note which ones are gluten-free or have no added sugar.

One of the things I love most about Amore, though, is the great prices! A single scoop of ice cream starts at just $2.50, and there are plenty of options for upgrading with toppings, waffle cones, cookie bowls, dipped cones, and more. A family like mine can easily enjoy a night out there for $10–15, which I find to be disappointingly rare for ice cream places these days.

I did a little happy dance when I noticed the little corner set up for kids and filled with toys, books, and cartoons. This, along with the huge fish tank in the middle of the room, instantly turn Amore into a great option for meeting up with another mom friend or enjoying a semi-private date night. And, in the warmer months, you and your family can enjoy your treats on their great outdoor patio.

In addition to the AMAZING hand-scooped ice cream, Amore serves up a variety of treats including cotton candy and baked goods. Right now, you can also find caramel apples and other fall-themed treats like oatmeal cookies sandwiches. Or, if you’re looking for something savory, they also offer homemade popcorn, specialty hot dogs, Heggies pizza, soup, sandwiches, and more. And, of course, you must take a peek at their selection of specialty candies and the huge dispenser of bulk Jelly Belly beans!
