Wednesday is Family Night at Villa Bar & Grill

If your family is looking for a relaxing mid-week dinner out at a reasonable price, be sure to check out Villa Bar & Grill in Albertville.

The Villa (formerly Emma Krumbee’s) is located just off I-94 and serves up an extensive menu of homestyle, made-from-scratch American food in a comfortable and family-friendly environment.

Every Wednesday night is “Family Night” at the Villa, when kids 10 & under eat FREE with a paid adult entree. And, on the last Wednesday of the month, your family can enjoy table-side magic with Kyle the Magic Guy between 5 and 7pm. Edit: Kids now eat free Monday–Wednesday, and Kyle the Magic Guy visits The Villa on Tuesdays.

Brown Family Farm (Big Lake)

At the grocery store today my daughter and I were talking about why we buy our fruits and veggies “in season” when I realized that we’re now just a few weeks away from receiving our first box full of locally grown, seasonal produce from Brown Family Farm!

Earlier this spring I shared with you the 3 things I love most about being a CSA member at Brown Family FarmClick to read >>

Options for Women / Cornerstone (St. Michael)

You’ve probably seen the sign in front of the unassuming house-turned-clinic as you drive west through St. Michael on Highway 241. But have you thought much about what’s inside?

The answer is… hope.

Options for Women/Cornerstone is a nonprofit pregnancy resource center that provides support, education, and life-affirming options to women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Women who walk through the doors of the St. Michael office find confidential, compassionate care—not judgment—and support in their next steps as moms.

Fresh Local Produce from Brown Family Farm

March is here! And the first day of March means that it’s practically spring, which means it’s practically summer—am I right?! 😉

One of my favorite things about summer in STMA is the opportunity for my family to enjoy the seasonal produce that’s being grown right here in the area. We love shopping at the farmer’s market and roadside stands, and this year will be our third summer buying produce directly from a local farm through CSA—community-supported agriculture.

Portillo’s, Maple Grove

Portillo’s is bringing a little bit of Chicago to the northwest Twin Cities with the opening of its new location in Maple Grove, coming January 23.

Portillo’s, which started as a single hot dog stand in 1963, now has locations across the country, with buildings and themes as diverse as the people who eat there! (Read more about the history here.) The theme of the Maple Grove location is 1930’s Prohibition, and you can see it reflected in the art and memorabilia covering the walls inside. The menu includes a wide variety of hot sandwiches, as well as burgers, pasta, salads, and of course—hot dogs!
