Every once in a while you come across someone who is totally working in her sweet spot. One such local mom, Danielle Brown, has combined her background in graphic design and her love of teaching with her outgoing personality to create Green Martini Paint Co., which provides not only for her family but also meets the need for a social and creative outlet for members of the STMA community.
Danielle was working as a graphic designer and waiting tables in Albertville when she got the idea to try teaching local paint classes. She launched Green Martini Paint Co. and started out hosting canvas painting parties at local bars and restaurants. About a year ago, Danielle began designing paint projects to be done on pallet wood. These classes were hugely popular and eventually enabled Danielle to open her own dedicated studio in Albertville earlier this year.
The “Paint & Drink” events hosted at Green Martini Paint Co. are an opportunity for moms—or anyone!—to express their creativity while having fun socializing. When you register for an event, you can choose from more than 60 designs including wood signs, tall patio signs, flower boxes, and more and also choose your own paint and stain colors.
Danielle has made the art-creation process super easy for even the most novice painters—no experience necessary!—and even provides creative input on color choices and hands-on help when needed. I had so much fun creating a sign for my son’s room and getting to know the other ladies at my table. Most of the attendees were groups of women enjoying a much-needed night out, and they were having a blast talking and laughing and helping one another create beautiful pieces.
Danielle said that one of her favorite things about what she does is seeing her designs end up as decor in people’s homes. In addition to the DIY paint events, Green Martini Paint Co. has its own craft boutique featuring a variety of handmade signs and goods by local artists. So if painting isn’t your thing, or you’re looking for a creative and personal gift, make sure to stop by the studio to look around. Danielle has been a part of the STMA community since she was little, and she plans to raise her family here as well. Danielle has two sons, ages 4 and 2, and is expecting twin girls this November! She attributes part of her success as a “mompreneur” to her team of friends and family who help out around the studio and with child care. And when her youngest son, Weston, comes along to “help” around the studio, she says, “I just double the time that everything will take.” 🙂
Green Martini Paint Co. is adding new project designs all the time.
