This fall inFIT is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of family fitness in Albertville, and they invited me to try out some of their group fitness classes and share my experience with you!
Even though I’d never set foot inside inFIT, I was excited to give them a try because I’ve heard good things about their classes and they are so active in the STMA community. Plus, I am an at-home mom to young kids, and the fact that they offer affordable on-site child care is huge! (More about that below)
What is inFIT?
First, inFIT is a fitness center in Albertville that offers group exercise classes as well as both personal and small group fitness training. They started out as a small, single-room studio and have grown over the last 10 years to a multi-studio facility that offers over 35 different class formats. The founders’ dream was (and still is!) to motivate individuals and families to become healthier together. They have worked hard to build a community of instructors and clients that support each other as we all work toward reaching our personal health goals.
Group fitness classes for anyone:
One of the first things I noticed is that people of all ages and fitness levels attend classes at inFIT. Even though I only attended classes at one particular time of day (9am weekdays), I still saw young women, older women, and also a handful of men. While some of the ladies I worked out alongside look like they *live* at the gym, plenty of others were normal 30-something moms like me trying to get their groove back after carrying babies. 🙂
Class types include Cardio, Strength, Barre, Kickboxing, Spin, Yoga, Zumba, and more… No matter your background, you’re sure to find something that fits your interests and skill level. So far, I have personally tried out spin classes and a few different strength-building classes.
What are the instructors like?
I have loved trying out a variety of class types and getting to know various instructors. They are all passionate about the classes they lead and about helping people reach their own unique fitness goals. Many of them are moms or other women who were inFIT clients before they ever became instructors! I found them to be very encouraging and helpful, especially to a “newbie” like me. (Instructors Jeana, Liz, and Tara all scored big points in this area!)
What do classes and training cost?
Classes can be purchased either a-la-carte or on a monthly membership basis.
Let’s talk about child care!
For me, the on-site child care—FITKare—is a major benefit to working out at inFIT. FITKare is available weekday mornings between 8 and 10 am, and the cost is just $2 per hour. Both of my kids (5 and 2) love going to FITKare because there is so much to do and the staff are so engaging. Every time I’ve gone to pick up my 2-year-old, the child care provider has been interacting with him, not just supervising. Also, the space itself is large enough for young kids to run and play and get in their own active time—a must during the cold winter months!
Bottom line:
I would absolutely recommend inFIT to anyone in our community who’s looking to improve their overall fitness. The classes are easy to schedule and attend—even for busy moms with kids—and the instructors do a great job meeting clients where they’re at and encouraging them to reach the next level.
