I had the pleasure of getting to know Sara Mosher at her home on a rainy day in October. But even the dreary weather outside couldn’t keep Sara from smiling as she told me all about her family’s foray into entrepreneurship—Mosher Farm & Gardens, located just northwest of St. Michael on Jason Avenue.
The Mosher’s farm is one of the area’s newest family-owned businesses. Sara Mosher and her husband, Grant, grew up in St. Michael. They purchased the farm property this spring from the owner of Brick House Gardens, which previously sold produce across the road. During the summer, Sara and her kids sold sweet corn by the dozen.
Sara’s four boys—ranging in age from 3 to 10—are a huge help around the farm, picking corn, tending to the chickens… But their real passion is selling off the fruits of their labor to neighbors from the community. “My kids love to sell,” says Sara, “so they just have a blast! They will fight over who gets to be down here selling.”
This fall, they’re offering to the community an assortment of gorgeous pumpkins ($5 any size!) as well as squash, hay bales, corn stalks, and more. You can pay a visit to Mosher Farm at your convenience (just pay for goods using the box in the little red farm stand), or watch their Facebook page for specific hours during which you can stop by to purchase directly from Sara and the boys.
