It figures—right?—that on one of the most uncomfortably hot days of this summer so far, our air conditioner would stop working.
We realized that our A/C wasn’t running just as my husband was headed out the door to a meeting. So, I jumped on Facebook to the STMA bulletin board group to see who the community was recommending for a fix, and the name I kept seeing there was Rol Air Plumbing & Heating.
Rol Air was able to send someone to our house within a couple of hours, and he arrived exactly when they said he would—so helpful to me as a busy mom! Jay (the owner) talked us through what was wrong with our A/C and helped us weigh the pros and cons of fixing just one part or replacing the whole system. My husband and I both felt like Jay was someone whose experience and recommendation we could trust.

This week I had the opportunity to meet local mom Kirsten Bansen Weigle, who gave me a little tour of what she’s growing in her garden at the St. Michael Community Garden on Frankfort Parkway. I got to see up close the unique and beautiful blooms that she offers to local florists through her startup business, Goldfish Gardens. (Take a look at these amazing sunflowers!)

This weekend is the annual St. Michael Daze & Knights Festival—a two-day event featuring, as the tagline says, “something for everyone!”
At the festival you’ll find fun family events, food, live music, a craft and farmer’s market, parade, car show, and lots more. Here are some things to look forward to if you plan on attending with your kids.

As your kids are getting ready to head back to school, now is a great time to consider signing them up for music lessons. Not only is there a great window here where you can capitalize on your kids’ back-to-school spirit, it also makes sense to build in music lessons to your school-year routine.
Rogers School of Music wanted to give us a taste of what it’s like to take lessons at their music studio, so I reached out to a friend of mine here in St. Michael whose 7-year-old daughter was interested in learning piano. Ana has now been taking lessons at Rogers School of Music for two months and has already learned a lot—and had a lot of fun doing it!
Earlier this week one of my mom friends posted on Facebook asking if anyone wanted to meet up at Prairie Park in Otsego. My answer to this is pretty much always—”Absolutely!”
We love going to Prairie Park anytime the weather is nice but especially in the summertime! When it’s hot out, the park offers an awesome two-in-one: a terrific playground and a great splash pad.
