Going to see the lights around town was one of my favorite Christmas traditions as a kid, and we’re lucky that STMA has several great holiday light displays, including a few with lights choreographed to music and several with fun, whimsical elements that appeal especially to kids!
We’ve expanded the STMA Holiday Lights Tour this year to include THREE fun new stops! So grab your kids and some hot cocoa, and follow this path for an evening of holiday de-LIGHT! 🙂
Note: This tour stops at 8 locations and takes approximately 45 minutes to enjoy start-to-finish. If you’d prefer to hit only the highlights, click here to access the 4-location, 30-minute version.
1. Lydia Circle NE, Albertville
Our 2018 tour is starting off in a brand new location. And it’s not just a house—it’s an entire cul-de-sac! The Lydia Circle neighbors have their houses lit for the season, and their street is a joy to circle through.
2. 5669 Large Ave NE, Albertville
My daughter asks constantly if we can visit this house! The display features 350 plastic figures and 25,000 lights that are programmed to dance to music—you can tune it in at 89.1 FM. Make sure you also grab then I-Spy game from the front mailbox; there’s a new one each week!
3. 11611 53rd Street NE, Albertville
Similar to the popular house on Large Ave, this nearby home has invited lots of friends to decorate its lovely front lawn!
4. 4178 Jason Court NE, St. Michael
I stumbled upon this beautifully decorated home by accident, and I’m so happy I did! Aside from looking like something from a postcard, it reminds me of the simple but elegant homes my family used to drive to see at Christmas when I was young.
5. 4168 Jansen Ave NE, St. Michael
This display is a fairly new addition to St. Michael and features four great songs set to music. Shows are playing continually every night from 5:30 to 9:30 and can be heard at 88.1 FM.
6. 100 1st Street SE, St. Michael
This display just off of 241 near Walgreens & Dunn Brothers lights up the neighborhood—you won’t need my map to find it! I recommend driving around to see both sides of this house if you can do so safely. (May not be advisable at rush hour)
7. 11455 20th Street NE, St. Michael
I love this stop for its whimsical inflatable friends on the front lawn and the classy lights on the house itself. A must-see along your way to the final stop on the tour!
8. 11594 20th Street NE, St. Michael
This is the “grand finale” of our tour—the most popular holiday light display in STMA, “Holiday Lights on 20th St.” (Facebook page) Tune in to 99.3 FM and enjoy the show, which runs 5:30–9:00 Sunday–Thursday and 5:30–9:30 on Friday & Saturday. Owners Bob & Brenda are collecting donations for the Hanover Food Shelf, so make sure to bring along something to add to the donation box near the end of the driveway.
Remember to be a good neighbor! No parking in driveways, making loud noise, or honking. Park all the way to the right so traffic can get by, and turn off your headlights when it’s safe to do so.
